Willow Smith Brings Back Jada’s Metal Band Past For Mother’s Day

Willow Smith stunned Jada Pinkett Smith for Mother’s Day by paying homage to her mother’s former metallic band, Depraved Knowledge. 

Throughout Wednesday’s episode of their Fb Watch collection, “Red Table Talk”  — which they host with Pinkett Smith’s mom, Adrienne Banfield Norris — Smith stunned the actor with a efficiency that includes members of her former band. 

“After I was … about 3 or 4, I went on tour with my mother and her band, Depraved Knowledge,” Smith says in a recording that performed throughout the episode. “Depraved Knowledge was lit. That is the music that I grew up round, my mom was a  superwoman, she was a rock star, she was a warrior and a nurturer all-in-one.”

“So unapologetically badass,” she added. 

Smith went on to carry out Depraved Knowledge’s music, “Bleed All Over Me,” with Pinkett Smith’s former band members, Pocket Honore and Taylor Graves, as Pinkett Smith and Banfield Norris danced alongside. 

In 2006, Pinkett Smith instructed Billboard that making the transition from performing to music required her to alter the perceptions individuals had about her. 

“It’s been kinda like this unraveling, this little discovery about Jada that no one knew about,” she stated. “This music and this picture is totally totally different from the persona that folks know me as. It’s good when you’ll be able to break down these perceptions and alter concepts.”

Pinkett Smith posted a clip of her daughter’s efficiency on Instagram earlier this week, writing that Smith’s shock made her “coronary heart burst in a thousand other ways.”
