Richmond AFLs Shai Bolton hospitalised after nightclub fight

A younger AFL star had his face smashed open whereas his teammate suffered a damaged wrist after speeding to defend his girlfriend in a nightclub.

The Richmond Tigers confirmed younger gun Shai Bolton, 22, and teammate Daniel Rioli, 24, had been concerned in an altercation on the weekend.

The melee began when Rioli’s girlfriend was ‘subjected to inappropriate behaviour’ from a fellow nightclub patron.

It is understood neither Rioli or Bolton had been drunk, and are not anticipated to face disciplinary motion from the membership.

‘Richmond gamers Daniel Rioli and Shai Bolton had been concerned in an incident at a nightclub over the weekend,’ Richmond mentioned in an announcement.

‘An altercation passed off after Rioli’s girlfriend was subjected to inappropriate behaviour.

‘Rioli was punched after confronting the patron and suffered a lower below his eye that required two stitches.

‘Bolton turned concerned within the ensuing altercation and sustained a fractured wrist that may require surgical procedure. He can be sidelined for the subsequent two to a few weeks.’
