Man charged after allegedly throwing 75-year-old mother down a 4m embankment

A person is dealing with courtroom after police discovered him hiding underneath a mattress following an alleged home violence incident within the Snowy Mountains.

Police attended a dwelling on Elizabeth Ave at Talbingo at about 5.45pm on Thursday the place they arrested a 54-year-old man who they allege was “hiding underneath a mattress”.

He was taken to Tumut Police Station and charged with kidnapping with intent to commit a severe indictable offence occasioning precise bodily hurt (home violence), assault occasioning precise bodily hurt (DV), destroying or damaging property (DV), and driving with a suspended licence.

Police will allege in courtroom the 54-year-old man had kidnapped the 75-year-old girl, his mother, earlier than “viciously” throwing her down a 4m embankment throughout a home violence incident within the Snowy Mountains space on Tuesday.

He was barefoot on the time of the incident.

Police have been advised the person and the girl have been concerned in an altercation earlier that day at Talbingo.

Officers from Riverina Police District have been referred to as to the Snowy Mountains Freeway at Talbingo at 3.30pm on Tuesday after reviews of the alleged incident on the freeway.

Police, with the assistance of the NSW State Emergency Service and Ambulance paramedics, have been in a position to rescue the 75-year-old girl.

She was discovered with bruising to her face and deep lacerations to her legs and arms and was taken to Wagga Base Hospital.

The 54-year-old man has been refused bail to seem at Wagga Wagga Native Courtroom at the moment.
