Four people are killed as a light plane crashes into a river in Redcliffe, Queensland

Christmas tragedy as 4 people on a pleasure flight are killed after their light plane crashes into a river and ends the wrong way up in the water

Four people are lifeless after a light plane crashed into the ocean in Queensland.

The passengers had been on a pleasure flight round Redcliffe, north-west of Brisbane, at about 9am on Sunday when the plane plunged into the water close to Scarborough Marina.

It’s understood the plane had engine hassle quickly after take-off and flipped when the pilot tried to return to the touchdown strip, 7 Information reported.

Two of the victims had been from Brisbane and two had been from Canberra. 

Onlookers noticed empty stretchers being carried from a hearth and rescue truck whereas police boat crews and divers carried out investigations.   

Emergency companies gathered on the Redcliffe Aero Membership and had not gained entry to the plane early on Sunday afternoon as a result of it was lodged amongst mangroves. 

Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll mentioned: ‘The plane is in a very, very troublesome place in the wetland space and we’ve got at present received police and divers travelling to that space.’   

Forensics are working with the Australian Transport Security Bureau and Queensland Water Police to find out the reason for the accident.
